ANC- Connection 12/15

December 15, 2006

By reading this section in this story I have found many connections that I could make. The first connection I can make was that my grandpa and Mr. Furtz died in a hospital unexpectedly. Another connection I could make was when the Finneys had nightmares because they saw Mr. Furtz dead body. The last but not least connection I could make was when the Finneys went to the mountain as a family and had lunch when my family and I went to stone mountain.

ANC- Summarizer-12/8/06

December 8, 2006

So far Maggie was grounded for 2 weeks for getting home at 2 am from a party with Kenny. Carl Ray has to look for a job but can’t seem to find one until one week later after days of looking. Carl Ray began his first job working at a hardware store. Beth Ann got a boyfriend named Derek and is going to a party with him on Saturday. Mary Lou was in charge of cleaning the upstairs so she could not do anything until Carl Ray woke up. Unfortunately the Finneys next door neighbor Mr. Furtz died of what Mrs. Furtz thinks a heart attack.

ANC Passage Master 12/1/06

December 1, 2006

On this particular passage or section on page 15 all of the kids are yelling at eachother because Mary slide the springs for the matteress down the stairs and cut Dennis on the knee. I chose this section because it will affect the story later on because all of the parents attention will be focused on Dennis. This passage is discussing how and who everbody is screaming at. I find this passage pretty easy to understand because it is telling why they are yelling at specific people.

The Terrifying Sinkhole !!!!!

October 16, 2006

What could that be!!!!?? On Monday September, 11 at Lake Windsor Middle School Paul was talking to Joey when he heard a whooshing sound. When he turned around brown water had over flown all over the field, it began to run to toward the back portables. Every teacher looked out of the door trying to spot were all of this commotion was coming from. A few minutes later the yelling got louder and kids came running out of the portables jumping in the mud. The mud was now taking over the portables. Paul yelled out to Joey that it was a sinkhole. He was sure of it because it was a big hole in the middle of the school. After they were drenched they ditched the umbrella and jumped out of the way fighting there way through the sloshing mud to portable 19. When they got into the portable number 16 fell right over first the roof, and then the rest went right into the end of the hole. When he got into the main building Paul was going to clean his glasses when a large boy walked up to him and cleaned his glasses for him. Then he realized it was Gino.  After a few minutes the loud speaker came on and Mrs. Gates said that we are experiencing an extreme emergency. She said that if you are hurt to go to the office and if you are not hurt go to your afternoon stop. When he reached the bus stop he heard a rush of ambulances, police cars, and fire engines rushing to the entrance way of the school. After the bus pulled in the driveway he went in freezing and muddy trying to find a seat when the bus driver said that she was required to take the children right there doors. When he reached his house he went through the garage straight to the laundry room and took off his pants, shirt, socks, shoes, then with his under shorts on he went and broke the news to his mom.  Sinkholes usually occur where the rock below the land surface is limestone, carbonate rock, salt beds. As the rock is dissolving or denigrating, spaces and caverns develop underground. Sinkholes are dramatic because the land usually stays intact for a while until the underground spaces just get too big. If you do not have enough support for the land above then the spaces gives a sudden collapse. These collapses can be small, or they can be huge and can occur where a house or road is on top. Most of the damage from sinkholes tends to occur in Florida, Texas, Alabama, Missouri, Kentucky, Tennessee, and Pennsylvania. Sinkholes can also form when natural water-drainage patterns are changed and new water-diversion systems are developed. As you can tell this was a hard but awkward day at school. A sinkhole occurred, people broke arms and legs, and now portables and fields are destroyed. This is what happened at Lake Windor Middle School on Monday September, 11.

Tangerine by Edward Bloor

September 22, 2006

If I was going to make Tangerine a movie I would make the music joyful an exciting because they are moving to a new house in Florida which is always fun. I would also make it happy because Erik, Pauls brother got into the school football team and Paul is trying out for the a school soocer team and he knows he is going to make it. Last but not least the family gets to know a father and son named Mike Costello, and Joey.
